Happy New Year 2009
Last day of the year and like most it’s time to wonder… How was 2008? Good/bad things? It’s time to analyse, to learn and remember those lessons. 2009 and there are a couple of great things coming up. Interviews with Trapt, Alice Russell, Nico Vega, Hana Pestle, Peasant, Dead by Wednesday, LeMarvin, New Regime, Cash Cash, Jacki-O and Jamie Jones. I’m looking forward...

Wack: Royston Drenthe & Ryan Babel
Already noticed famous Dutch soccerplayers are pretending they can rap? Well, Royston Drenthe and Ryan Babel think they can. When you compare their excellent soccer-skills with their lyrics/flow/rhymes/etc… it cannot get any more diverse. The song “Dom, Lomp, Famous” by The Opposites cannot get a better reference/example then Royston Drenthe & Ryan Babel. Well done, boys! ...

Audi-drivers are Cocks
According to Jeremy Clarkson (BBC Top Gear), cocks drive in Audi’s (eg., watch a fragment below). He has always thought of BMW as uncool just because cocks drive in them. This year he has seen a turn-around. Cocks have traded (its mostly a company-car, weak) in their BMW for an Audi making Audi, finally, the new ‘cock’-car. Is this true or false? I have to agree with Jeremy...

Guitar Hero as Music Marketing Tool
I assume you have heard of the game “Guitar Hero”, if not check its website. Artists, who have added/contributed their music to the game, have seen separate sales of those tracks triple on average. Wow, another example how people’s musical taste can be influenced. It’s nice to see that it doesnot matter that the songs are *not* new. Download figures compare the week...

Warner Music fights YouTube
Warner has announced to stop adding their music videos to YouTube (temporarily). All additions are also being removed. Warner isnot making enough money off the videos through YouTube. They also have their own channel/website which plays music videos but isnot as popular as YouTube (propably never ever will be). This is what Warner Music had to say: “We are working actively to find a...

Giving Childbirth
I was just searching for something regarding the topic ‘childbirth’ when I saw this: I found this on Wikipedia (NL | EN) with the following description: “Gebärstuhl, Ende 19. Jh., Evangelisch-lutherische Kirchengemeinde Sülzenbrücken”. What does this mean? Well, just take a look at the next picture which will explain everything: I am already searching for it on eBay...

Meet Dutch HipHop
Nowadays good HipHop isnot only ‘made in USA’. French hiphop has been doing very well for a decade now. The Dutch hiphop scene has grown the last decade to become the main genre (even a bit too popular). In the Dutch hiphop-scene the English language was popular but after awhile (not really a commercial success) the native language became more popular. So for anyone who enjoys...

Wife's pregnant, pt. 1.8.1
Poeh… my wife enjoyed the ‘bad hair’-picture I added a few days ago :-). Where was I? Ahhh yes, month eight and my first post. It’s going very well. To describe it best, she’s currently at fase 4: small - medium - big - bigger - biggest Time went by and the pregnancy’s end is near. We have prepared ourselves as much as possible (I hope). What’s ready?...

Interviews with Chester French, 88-Keys and...
Young Wonder, 88-Keys, Illa J, Josiah Leming, Metermaids, Sam Scarfo, Chester French, etc… are a few artists I’ve had an interview with in the last couple of weeks. First off all, I would like to thank them for this opportunity! Especially, Young Wonder and Sam Scarfo :-). Secondly, Christmas is coming and a lot of artists want (read: need) publicity for their latest or upcoming...

Guns N Roses: Give us a free Dr Pepper
Wow, you have to read the following marketing campaign by Dr Pepper: Guns N’ Roses became Guns N’ Roses N’ Lawyers this week. The band, which released its first album in 17 years last week, has found itself in a legal tussle with soft drink giant Dr Pepper over a promotion turned awry. Dr Pepper rolled out a marketing campaign in March promising a “free soda” to...
