A group of notable musicians from Athens, Georgia, have joined forces to raise funds for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial (founded by Lois Pope) and the CSRA Wounded Warrior Care Project. The bands, which include REM, Widespread Panic (featuring Vic Chesnutt), Drivin’ n Cryin’, Bloodkin, Brute, Dead Confederate, The Whigs, Futurebirds, Ruby Kendrick, Hope for Agoldensummer and Gift Horse, have all contributed singles to raise funds for a planned memorial to disabled veterans on the Mall in Washington, DC and the ongoing care of our returning servicemen and women. The compilation includes both live and album versions of songs from each of the bands, delivered digitally on a pay-what-you-want basis.

The project was initially inspired by Dead Confederate’s single “Run from the Gun” which speaks passionately about the human and very personal cost of war.

“The idea for “Run from the Gun” originated while I was studying our mistreatment of Native Americans and looking back at how bloody our short history has been in the United States.” said Hardy Morris, lead singer of Dead Confederate.  “The song, and this project, just grew from there as I realized that those same feelings I was having encompassed all wars, because they all have consequences that we don’t think about enough.  Wars aren’t just stories in history books, dates on a timeline or names on a page. The human cost of war can be seen in fatherless kids, broken families, lost limbs and the victims we hide away in institutions or who end up homeless for the rest of their lives.”

Columbia Records is proud to announce the release of the original motion picture soundtrack for We Bought A Zoo with music by Sigur Rós front man and leading light, Jon Thor Birgisson, aka Jónsi on December 13th, 2011.  Composed at the personal request of We Bought A Zoo director - and huge Sigur Rós aficionado - Cameron Crowe, for the movie that will be in theatres everywhere December 23rd from Twentieth Century Fox, the soundtrack includes original music composed by Jónsi which plays an integral part to the films heartfelt emotional landscape.

Written and recorded in short order, over four months this summer/fall at the famous Village Studios in Los Angeles and at the singer’s home studio in his native Iceland, the soundtrack to We Bought A Zoo comprises more than half-an-hour of brand new music from Jónsi, including two full songs and nine achingly beautiful themes, plus reimagining’s of songs from Jónsi’s acclaimed solo album, ‘Go’, as well as what might well be regarded as Sigur Rós’ most memorable tune, in ‘Hoppipolla’.

“[Jónsi] arrived from Iceland with a toy sampler keyboard and a headful of ideas,” says Cameron. “Within a week, [he] had composed a series of themes that would reflect everything we’d hoped for. In his music were all the highs and lows and passionate in-betweens of the film itself. The instinct that made the movie come full circle.”

The hilarious and heartfelt new documentary “The Other F Word” hits theaters today in New York at the Film Forum and in LA this Friday at Nuart Theater.  It will then screen in cities across the US during November and December. Pennywise frontman Jim Lindberg, one of the main subjects of the film, also recently made a live, on-air appearance on CNN to discuss the documentary.

What happens when a generations ultimate anti-authoritarians – punk rockers – become society’s ultimate authorities – dads?  “The Other F Word”is the revealing, funny, and touching film that tackles this question.  With a large chorus of punk rock’s leading men, including Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, and Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath– the documentary follows Jim Lindberg, a 20-year veteran of the skate punk band Pennywise, on his hysterical and moving journey from belting his band’s anthem “F—k Authority,” to embracing his ultimately authoritarian role in mid-life: fatherhood.

Other dads featured in the film, which was Executive Produced by Morgan Spurlock & Jeremy Chilnick, include Art Alexakis (Everclear), Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Tony Adolescent (The Adolescents), Fat Mike (NOFX), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), skater Tony Hawk, and many others.

As part of an on-going effort to support and rebuild the town, Levi’s® presents “Benefit Braddock” - a concert series featuring Andrew Bird, Built to Spill, The Hold Steady, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Titus Andronicus, and Atlas Sound. “Benefit Braddock” will take place this November 10th, 11th and 12th in the first Carnegie public library located in Braddock, PA. All ticket sales from the concert series will go to support rebuilding efforts of the town tripled by a contribution from the Levi’s® brand.

In 2010 the Levi’s® brand began its partnership with Braddock, Pennsylvania, a broken town struggling to reinvent itself. As part of this collaboration and to spark action in other communities in need, Levi’s® invested in a series of community-based projects intended to better the lives of Braddock residents. “Benefit Braddock” is a continuation of this effort to shine a spotlight on how vision and hard work can not only change one community, but also help to inspire people around the country.

Certified Gold in the U.S. and Platinum in Canada for his hit single “Ghosts ‘n Stuff,” Ultra Music producer deadmau5’s mainstream success continues to build.

So far, 2011 has been an amazing year for producer and America’s number one DJ (as ranked by Pioneer and DJ Times), Kaskade, who just wrapped his main headliner slot on the 20-plus date Identity tour which also featured acts like Skrillex, Steve Aoki and Pretty Lights.

Calvin Harris’ impression on North America has certainly ramped up in 2011. With first single “Bounce” (feat. Kelis) heading straight to Top 5 Billboard Dance Airplay and second single “Feel So Close” not far behind, the set up for his record next spring is primed.

Internationally, ULTRA MUSIC has seen immense success with Gold Certification (Canada) being awarded to Mischa Daniels for his massive single, “Where You Wanna Go” (feat. J-Son). Similarly, Italian producer/DJ Alex Gaudino broke through with his hit “I’m In Love” which peaked at #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart in the U.K., #7 on iTunes Overall Chart and #10 on the Official U.K. singles Chart.
