It’s been quite a ride. Last +/- seven days a lot of work has been done regarding ‘Search Engine Optimalization’ (=SEO). MusicRemedy’s URL consisted out of capitalization and underscores (_). The first one is not that bad since your keywords gain a bit more attention. However, search engines are not that keen on capitalization or uppercase behaviour. So, this has been removed and re-directed to lowercase (except for pictures/files).
The second one is not that bad either but the best option (according to Google) is hyphen (-). For instance your URL has “britney_spears” in it. A search engine will consider this one word. Therefore you are missing out on traffic. By using a hyphen your url will be “britney-spears” and both words will be recognized as separate.
So take a look for yourself:
Britney Spears (old URL: http://musicremedy.com/b/Britney_Spears/)
Britney Spears (new url: http://musicremedy.com/b/britney-spears/)
You might be thinking, what’s all the commotion about? Does this really matter? Huhhhmm, yes it matters a lot!
