NYC Rock N Roll Painter, Jason Gluskin, Unveils The Mixmaster

NYC painter Jason Gluskin has just completed a new work dubbed The Mixmaster, oil on canvas 36” x 24”, which looks just fabulous. Gluskin has created a modern and realistic painting with music as its main topic. The piece is drawn from the images and sounds of DJ Behrouz and Electronic Music.  Gluskin, a fan of all kinds of sounds began listening to The Pure Behrouz Radio show on SIRIUS XM’s Electronic Area and was inspired to paint. The piece was recently displayed in a group show at the Chelsea Room in The Hotel Chelsea, in New York City.

Gluskin said, “I just started to get into this genre of music. Introduced to Behrouz’s show by a friend and former co-worker at SIRIUS XM. I love the way he builds layers, grooves and sound. I felt compelled to get that texture and vibe on canvas.”

The show’s producer sent Jason some pictures of from a live set from a show Montreal. Soon, Gluskin began filtering the images and sounds through his vibrant, expressionist/cubist lens.  “I was listening to Behrouz show along with some other artists like LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip while composing this one.  I really tried to capture the photos I was referencing as well as flow of the music. It was an exciting work to create. I’ve been studying a lot of Picasso and cubist work over the past year and the influence came across.”

“These images were taken from a Pure Behrouz show at Stereo in Montreal.” said Behrouz. “It’s one of my favorite places to play and I often do 10+ hour sets there.  I think Jason’s painting captures the love of music and the technology used to help create the music and magic in my sets.  I have taken my Pure Behrouz concept across the world and am fortunate enough to have a Pure Behrouz radio show on Sirius XM every Saturday night. Great work of art and I look forward to seeing more of Jason’s masterpieces in the future.”
